How to Make Hot and Cool Cannabis Muscle Rub

How to Make Hot and Cool Cannabis Muscle Rub

Direct application of cannabis topically to painful areas has shown to be beneficial. Local use of cannabis is an excellent way to reap the benefits of cannabis without getting extra "high."

Your skin is capable of absorbing cannabinoids through the skin, and they will pass through the fat cells in your body.  Making your very own version of cannabis-infused rubs at home is simple and quick. This recipe is for a rub that has both heating and cooling effect as transdermal application of cannabis to needed areas.  This mixture is great for sore muscles or skin issues that require active treatment.

For this recipe you will need:

Crock Pot

Strainer or cheese cloth

Coconut Oil

Sunflower Oil

Olive Oil

Bee's Wax

Coco Butter

Cannabis

Turmeric

Essential Oils (Wintergreen, Eucalyptus, Orange, and Camphor) These will be used as you like.

Cayenne Powder

First Step

Infuse Cannabis in Coconut Oil. The best ratio is One Ounce of Cannabis for each Pound of Coconut Oil. This formula can be halved if needed.  Decarboxylate your cannabis for 30mins and place in crock-pot cover with coconut oil. Heat at 145 degrees for 4 hours and strain. This oil is your base and will be cut.  Mix infused coconut oil (Base) with equal part Sunflower Oil (For example one cup of each.)

Second Step

You will add half the amount of your base of these. (For example, if you used one cup of your base, you will use half a cup here.)

Olive Oil

Bee's Wax

Cocoa or Shea Butter

Once mixed, this is your basic sensitive skin balm. (Great for Psoriasis and other skin maladies.)

Third Step

At this time you can add one Teaspoon (more or less, depending on your base) of Turmeric powder. This is an excellent anti-inflammatory agent.  Now you will add the heating element of the Balm, Cayenne Powder.  Add a few dashes, up to a HALF-teaspoon for each entire recipe. This step will depend on your level of desired heat. You can re-melt the mixture and add more heat, later if you wish.  Adding the cooling aspect comes from the essential oils. Your choices are to use more or less of any of the listed oils. Starting with 50 drops is recommended. Camphor is a powerful cooling agent and can be used to bring more cooling as needed.

Fourth and Final Step

Once all ingredients are mixed, ensure they are blended and equally melded together. Put the mix in the crock-pot and turn on low for an hour or so, until the powders and oils are all mixed. This final heating will guarantee the blend is smooth and consistent.  At this point, you can pour your cannabis muscle rub back into the coconut oil containers or any other container you would like to have available. You can use smaller portable containers for having some on the go.
